I'm currently sailing on board a Neel 51 in New Zealand. The owner plans to sail to Indonesia between April and September this year; probably in three 6-8 week legs and including stops to cruise Vanuatu, The unspoiled Solomon Islands and a remote and much praised part of the SE corner of exotic Papua New Guinea!
He's asked me to share his flyer looking for crew, so here it is. It's pretty self-explanatory. I'd say the boat itself is well-suited to remote trade wind and equatorial cruising. It's high spec with a large array of solar panels, a huge 48V lithium battery bank from market-leaders, Mastervolt, electric winches and electric fresh water heads.
She is currently my home as we cruise the North Island of New Zealand waiting for the Cyclone Season to end in April, and I-am-loving-it.
If you might be interested in joining the owner and crewing, check out the details here. He's a private owner and only charging a small sum to cover food and costs on board, so I'd suggest it really is a great opportunity for someone with the right skill set to offer and time available.
He's new to sailing, so I am currently with him offering own boat tuition. I plan to stay on board until September after a short jaunt back to Blightie for a few weeks in February. We sail from Auckland in April, plan to be in Vanuatu mid May, the Solomon in July and Papua New Guinea in August with Indonesia our destination for the season end.
For more information, check out the owner's flyer here.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a private yacht and no charter fee is asked. All arrangements made are strictly between crew volunteers and the vessel's owner.
